Who was better Albert Einstein or Isaac Newton?

I developed a website as a research project. It was called CafeIntellect.com and on that site, I had a simple poll – Who do you think was better (meaning greater in terms of his achievements) – Albert Einstein or Isaac Nwewton.

The end result was Isaac Newton. People voted him 1170 to 973. Here are some comments that the site received:

Newton vs Einstein
Newton vs Einstein

name=Abbigal
message=Albert Einstein was retarted Isaac Newton was way better

name=Spoorthy
message=My vote is to the GREAT SCIETIST-Albert Einstein. Everyone vote to him. he’s really amazing

name=vaibhav s karalgikar
message=”SIR ISSAC is god,he was the reason for today’s scientists…plzzz don’t compare god with anyone else”

name=chemist
message=Linus Pauling

name=Akshay
message=people think albert rox just bcz he maid cool discoveries but he was there in the 19 th century and had so many great people before who discovered many things which included newton as well but newton did not have einstein before him.So people PLEASE VOTE FOR NEWTON BECAUSE HE ROX!!!!!!!

name=Matzeklose
message=Isaac no.<br />Einstein, you really Rock!!

name=Mary-Anne
message=I dont really know much about Einstein but I’ve read a lot about Newton and even if I didnt admire him I’d give my vote to him because he discovered so many things in a time when there wasnt really much to work off.

name=Jas
message=My vote goes to Einstein whose phenomenal theory of relativity and the equation e=mc² changed the equations of the world we live in… for ever after. The fact that his image itself is an epitome of intelligence and scientific endeavour in modern world, is evidence enough to prove his greatness!

name=Nasreem
message=My vote goes for Ablert Einstein. His papers changed the way world and things around us are looked at. Had it not beed for the time-space research, we’d still be living in the modern dark ages.

name=Will Barrett
message=I’m for Newton. Without the calculus, discovery of gravity and action-reaction physis, many of post Newton advancements in electro-magnetism and statistic physics would never have gotten off the ground. If the poll was for the greatest deep thinker, I would give it to Einstein. He laid the foundation for relativity and quantum, even though he never liked quantum theory himself. 😉

name=Racoon
message=I read a book called “Scientific Genius, 20 greatest minds of all time”. Who IS the greatest scientist who influenced Mankind the most and whose accomplishments you admire? Why???

HERE ARE THE CANDIDATES:
Aristotle (384 – 322 BC) – Scientific Method
Archimedes (c. 287-212 BC) – Geometry and Mechanics
Galileo Galilei ( 1564-1642) – Astronomy & Physics
William Harvey ( 1578-1657) – Phsyiology
Rene Descartes (1596-1642) – Analytic Geometry
Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) – Probability and Projective Geometry
Issac Newton (1642-1726) – Mechanics and Calculus
Karl Gauss (1777-1855) – Pure and Applied Mathmatics
Michael Faraday (1791-1867) – Electromagnetism
Charles Darwin (1809-1882) – Evolution
Evariste Galois (1811-1832) – Group theory
Gregor Mendel (1822-1884) – Genetics
Robert Koch (1843-1910) – Bacteriology
Ivan Pavlov (1849-1936) – Nueropsychology
Albert Einstein (1879-1955) – Relativity theory
Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976) – Quantum Mechanics
John Von Neumann (1903-1957) – Computer Science
Alan Turing (1912-1954) – Computer Science
Linus Pauling (1901-1994) – Chemistry
Stephen Hawking (1942- ) – Cosmology

There is no wrong answer,  Again, this list is from a book by Jim Glenn and he admits many names are excluded and some perhaps some wrongly included. But thankfully mankind has been BLESSED by such brilliant minds! I cast my ballot for Einstein and Newton together, can’t pin point one who’s better than the other.

name=Boerseun
message=Olly Isaac gets my vote, b’cause I reckon that he had the biggest influence to this day. But then, it can be said that he couldn’t have done what he did without being able to stand on the shoulders of all the greats before him. All the way back to the very first great scientist who did the very first life changing experiment. So, although it’s hard to say, Isaac Newton is my vote.

name=Grey Waldron
message=Newton’s discovery of gravity is the all time winner. Just like the wheel was the invention of the millennium. It is basic, but how many people thought about that before him? Everything else is an intelligent scientific conclusion.

name=Jordan
message=Who was better? that is a general question…..both were excellent at observation and understanding they simplified very complex ideas.. but I admit, I have a weakness for the way that Einstein made his views so relatable- and he made space and time appear wonderous, and what a humanitarian!

name=Jenni
message=”Every action has an equal and opposite reaction” – Isaac Newton. was so fascinated with newton in school days. no wonder he’s leading the poll..

name=AJ
message=Thats right Jim, but Albert Einstein was a genius. Infact when his brain was studied in detail, very recently, they found it was a wee bit bigger than a normal human’s. Plus he was an allrounder, unlike many other scientists.

name=Jim Sheldon
message=Newton’s research came at a time when there was lesser scientific knowledge. Einstein commented on various theories of Newton. I would go for Newton.

What’s your vote?

The art of making money – 17 Rules of Success

They say money attracts money. Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” says people who know the art of money making can start from nothing and make shit loads of money over and over again. The most read book in money making history by Napoleon Hill – “Think and Grow Rich” says the same. Paul McKenna’s  “I can make you rich” again repeats the same few fundamentals of getting rich.

So, are there actually rules of becoming rich? Let me first list the 17 rules of success by Napoleon Hill.

17 rules of success:

  1. Do you know what you want? Unless you figure out what you want from life and plan exactly how to, you’ll unsuccessfully drift through life. Having surety of purpose is something that all successful people share.
  2. The mastermind alliance: You cannot be successful alone. There have to be 2 or more brains working to achieve a common target.
  3. Faith – faith is the force that converts your desires into tangible processed results like money.
  4. The extra mile – Give more than what you need to, be generous when giving and humble while accepting.
  5. A pleasing personality is a combination of your thoughts, spirit and physical mannerisms and is the key to success.
  6. Personal initiative: This is the ability that very few people have – the ability to finish what’s started, to start what’s planned.
  7. Positive attitude – As in case of life in general, every project has its ups and downs. positive attitude helps one emerge a winner when other would quit, or give up hope. Positive attitude attracts success, negative attitude attracts failure.
  8. Burning desire: You can hear it in some people’s words, see it in their actions. Burning desire is enthusiasm or faith in action. It radiates and has the ability to persuade people to believe in you and your ideas.
  9. Self discipline: The art of controlling your desires, doing not what you want, but what needs to be done. It involves balancing the desires of your heart and the logic of your brain.
  10. Thought process: The power of thinking is the best reward or worst trait given to man. Use it wisely.
  11. Controlled attention: Keep your thoughts focused on the goal. People often get distracted or excited by something new. The challenge is to control your attention and maintain the focus.
  12. Voluntary teamwork: When you give in abundance, you receive people’s faith and support. This is unpaid, voluntary teamwork which is imperative for success.
  13. Defeat brings success. The art of accepting defeat, learning from it brings a man success. Accept defeat not to be disheartened, but to make it a stepping stone to success.
  14. Creative vision is not a skill that you’re born with. You develop creative thinking by being open, fearless and free. Be creative.
  15. Good health – Good health is important. Good health is often an image of your consciousness or the health of your spirit.
  16. Time and money are never available in excess to successful people. When you believe you have any one in excess, you’re going down the ladder, not up. It is the constant utilization of time and desire for money that makes a person monetarily successful.
  17. Habits, thoughts and deeds craft your life, the way you are, the way you think. Learn and strive to develop positive habits and thoughts and do good to self and others.

In my next post I’ll list the 13 secrets of success by Napoleon Hill.

I love Bret “the hitman” Hart

Following is the letter I wrote to Bret Hart – Known as Hitman during his WWF wrestling days:

Bret "The Hitman" Hart
Bret “The Hitman” Hart

Hey Bret, since this form doesn’t have image verification and you’re a popular man, you must get a lot of spam mail. That’s why that attractive title.

I am Arjun, presently in London but originally from India. I’ve grown up with you as my hero and role model. The good guy among those bad guys – the Man who knows the importance of not cheating, even if it means getting beaten up, yet strong enough to beat any other man.

Bret, I read about you in detail. I’m sad for what happened and happy that your book’s out.

Just want to say that you’re a great man and my prayers are with you. It would be better if there was a way – website or something where I could read more about you. I guess you want to stay away from the limelight, which is understandable.

😉

Take care Bret
You’re the best there ever will be!!

India conquers the Moon. Indian Moon Impact Probe creates history!

India, today became the 4th nation to reach Moon via the MIP bearing Chandrayaan 1.

Indian Space Research Organisation (the Indian version of NASA) today fulfilled what they had promised. India’s first Moon impact probe today landed on Moon’s surface at 8:31pm (Indian standard time) creating history. Chandrayaan 1 ejected the MIP 100 kms from Moon’s surface.

“It was during Jawaharlal Nehru’s (India’s first prime minister) time that the nucleus for a space programme started. It is befitting that on children’s day (Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday) , celebrated in his honour, that India should plant its flag on the lunar surface,” Said Mr Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO in the company of APJ Abdul Kalam (ex Indian president) and other scientists.

The MIP detached itself from Chandrayaan and took 25 mins to land on Moon’s surface (because of lower gravitational pull as compared to earth).

“India may send a manned mission with an Indian astronaut in as less as 7 years”, APJ Adul Kalam said today.

Congratulations India!

Just want to thank WordPress for giving me a great platform to blog and super solid, robust interface, hosting and services. I have blogged with Blogspot, Blogger, Hubpages, Live pages and many more (as I work in the SEO industry), but have never come across something as brilliant as WordPress. Plus, with the brand new WordPress 2.7, this is just going to improve.

I’ll soon write an article about external tools I use when I blog. A post called “How to blog successfully”. Hopefully real soon.
