Smart TV vs Normal TV – Are Smart TVs Dumb?

What is a Smart TV?

Originally known as “connected TVs”, Smart TVs are types that can connect to the internet for social networking, normal browsing activity, streaming on-demand rental services, as well as playing internet music and TV stations, in addition to streaming ordinary cable or satellite TV content. The best Smart TVs offer entertainment, social networking and functional features that normal TVs don’t and in 2016 there’s a range of Smart TVs available under £500. This was definitely not the case in 2014 or 2015 in Britain.

How different are smart TVs from normal TVs?

Unlike the normal UK TV models that are based on mere integrated circuits, smart TVs run on operating system software that has pre-installed apps, although there is no standard operating system across the board. Popular UK brands Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Sony – they all have their custom built operating systems with their different layouts and usability. While traditional TV sets have a few standard inputs and output ports, the top reviewed smart TVs tend to offer more options to connect to devices. Thus almost every smart TV in UK incorporates a variety of input options including multiple HDMI and USB ports, and allows networking with a number of home devices and smartphones.

Something about smart TVs that is not found on other normal TVs in the UK is the ability to stream on-demand video services such as Hulu and Netflix. In late 2015 and early 2016, there has been popularity of these services and the debate about how people can actually reduce the cost of watching content in Britain by incorporating on-demand content into their day-to-day life.

Besides, users can browse social sites such as Facebook and Twitter through apps, thus these devices compete in that way, with the best smartphones and most powerful computers.

How do smart TVs work? Technology

  • Juggling of graphics/video processing
  • video streaming
  • managing internet connectivity
  • managing multiple screens
  • memory management

Smart TVs do all this using an integrated computer-like framework. These TVs use processors in order to handle a volume of tasks. Some Smart TVs also come with extended internal memory and external memory slots in the UK.

They also use software to allow reception and processing of complex and multiple instructions, as well as relaying back of useful feedback. The world has experienced the Full HD (1080x1920p), and Ultra HD 4K (about 4000p) screens that deliver sharper and more detailed screen images and is anticipating the 4K Blue-ray discs that are expected to deliver extra quality – more details and sharpness, but cost more.

Applications are either preinstalled or can be installed just like smartphones and computers. These applications allow watching on-demand video services and using social networking services like Twitter and Facebook. Many of these TVs come with in-built WiFi for internet connectivity, others connect to the internet using an ethernet cable. In 2016, you’ll hardly find any without WiFi capabilities.

Are they worth it? Let’s discuss pricing and features

According to Topuptv.co.uk, you can buy a 50 inch Smart TV in less than 500 pounds, which was definitely not possible in the UK earlier this year. Smart TVs offer much more content than the traditional normal TVs and are slowly becoming an integral part of modern home entertainment. However, some argue that they’re overpriced although this is changing in 2016. Smart TVs can be worth the cost especially when you consider the price of separate internet connectivity gadgets, set top boxes etc which are not required with Smart TVs. The fact that smart TVs offer more features make them acceptable at their higher costs and are better options to cable TV if your family is used to watching movies, online streaming services, occasional series and live sports.

Thank you for visiting this page!

With all the information above, you can clearly understand why smart TVs have become so popular over the years. Their evolution has marked a turning point in the way we view tv.

making money online is no magic

Why read this article? Who Am I?

I’m Arjun, have run 800+ websites in parallel, made money from those using every possible strategy there is. I started in 2004 and it took me 3 years of learning to start making money online in 2007 and I’ve never looked back since. Of all these ventures, the most money I’ve made is in projects that don’t really need any technical know-how, don’t require any upfront investment and don’t require lying or cheating or conning anyone. These kind of online businesses are not only the most fun to run but also are the longest lasting. There are hundreds of people out there that will teach you a step-by-step method of making money. Yes they do work, but they come with an expiry date – think – if there’s a short cut technique for making money, sooner or later it will be exposed to way too many people for it to be effective anymore. Don’t go for that or you’ll never have a reliable online business ever.

In this Blog post, I will explain a way of creating an online property that will require you to put in hard-work, use your brains, and create a website that will help thousands but at the same time will never go out of fashion and will continue growing in value with each passing month. I will be very direct and strict and put numbers in place that you will need to follow – provided you do exactly as I say, you WILL build an online property (website) that will make you money and will be a superb asset in the long term.

An Online Business Can Be Built Only With Ethics

To Make Things Clear – First I’ll Answer Some Basic Questions

  1. Who is this system for?
    • This system is for someone who is disciplined, has a decent IQ, believes in honesty and in the act of giving and has the capability to self-motivate. It is not easy sitting in a quiet room working toward a goal for months on end. People tend to give up, they can’t follow through, get demotivated or attracted to other schemes that promise more riches quicker. If you are one of those people, then don’t waste your time starting this activity because while I promise you that this will make you money, a lot of it and it is a stable business to be in, I can also tell you that it won’t be easy, will require hard work and it won’t happen overnight.
  2. How long before I start making money online?
    • Your first dollars will start coming in, in 3-6 months, but it will take a minimum of 9 months to start making money that’ll justify you quitting your job. Some can start making a lot of money very quickly, whilst some can take slightly longer, but money you will make and you will ENJOY the process and the highs and lows that come with it.
  3. How much money can I make online?
    • In 2 years time your business will be worth 100,000 dollars plus and should be generating USD 5000 plus monthly in profit for you. I say this because with my technique, the average businesses I’ve seen have been valued at over USD 100,000 in 2 years’ time, hence this is a safe estimate figure to go by. After 9 months you can expect to be making enough money to sustain yourself comfortably. Just like any aspect of life, there will be some of you making a lot of money and some not so much. That will depend on the decisions you make and the smart work and hard work you put in.
  4. How much investment will I need?
    • About $350.
  5. What skills do I need?
    • Superb written English is necessary if you have a low budget. If you have money to invest, then you can hire top-class writers and they will write for you. The figure of $350 above is valid if you’re capable and willing to write yourself.
    • General street smartness.
    • Some business acumen will be handy, but not necessary.
    • Flare to read.
  6. How much time do I need to invest?
    • It’s an alternate career and at the start it requires as much time as any other profession – so I would say 8 hours a day to start with. Later when the business starts to make money, a lot of it is going to be on auto-pilot and at that time you can reduce that 8 hours a day to 5 hours a day or even move out completely by recruiting and training people to manage the business. You can also start it part-time along with a day job, but that would increase your gestation period by many months depending on the number of hours you put in per week.
  7. What technical skills do I need?
    • None, you just need to be a savvy Internet user.
  8. It’s an intangible business, can it evaporate overnight?
    • The business we’re talking about relies on people who visit your website. The search engines are a brilliant way to get users on your website, but if Search Engine Optimisation is done wrongly, then Google, Bing and other search engines can remove your website from their listings. If you follow Google Webmaster Guidelines and do stuff honestly without the intention of manipulating search rankings, then you have nothing to worry about and just like big businesses like Walmart, your business will not go anywhere. It will grow bigger and better with each passing month as you continue working on it.
  9. Will I need to recruit people?
    • Initially no, after a few years, maybe.

Let’s Get Started – Here’s a Summary of My Online Business Technique

Arjun's 3 Phase Online Money Making

Phase 1: Creating a web property worth $100,000 in the next 2 years with average monthly profit of $5000 per month.

You will create a new Brand in the business sector or niche of your choice by identifying:

  1. Product topics where there’s little or no information on the Internet. Product problems that are yet unsolved but are affecting hundreds or thousands of people every month. I will teach you how to identify keywords where there is interest but where little help is available. Here’s an example: People buy baby carriers in the US and UK all the time but new parents in the hiking community have been looking for baby carriers that would be ideal for hiking. There was no such information available online until I created a website on that topic. Another example in the same niche – baby carriers for parents with bad backs – there was no information available until we addressed it. Long story short, we addressed these problems, identified products after thorough study that would suit each customer group and suggested what people should buy. Monthly profit after this activity and 6 months of constant legitimate hard-work – $1000 per month 100% legally, ethically and honestly in a way that genuinely benefits people.
  2. Content marketing and Affiliate marketing will be used by us to monetise your business.

This will enable you to create a Brand in 9 months to 2 years that you will own 100% and that will be worth many thousands of dollars.

Phase 2: Taking that web property to the big league by expanding the brand and launching self-branded products to touch $200,000 to $1,000,000 (1 million US dollars) in sales.

You will reach this phase in 9 months to 3 years depending on how much time, energy and effort you put into your online business. I can’t say when you’ll reach this phase but I can promise that you WILL if you continue on the path I show you. In this phase you will develop your brand into a household name and will use all the experience and knowledge that you’ve acquired during content research. In this phase you will learn to source products from China, put your own branding on them and start selling on popular e-commerce websites like Amazon. This will give your business a whole new revenue stream.

Phase 3: Using your product and niche knowledge to create products that are better than anything available in the market. You will go on to make a multi-million dollar business in 5 years.

In this phase you will start innovating products, start filing your own patents and produce products in your own little niche that would be better than anything else in the market. In this phase I will teach you how to turn your very profitable Brand into a multi-million dollar business.

The Details, Getting Started and My Fee:

What you’ve read above is a very brief overview of my foolproof method of creating a genuine business online that makes serious money and genuinely helps the online community. This technique of making money online will stand the test of time and with the right leader go on to become a multi-million dollar business. I charge $200 for sending you Phase 1 of my course which is spread over 6 months and 12 emails full of content, audio and video. Of 100 people who join my course’s phase 1, only 12 go on to join Phase 2 because as I mentioned in this article, 88% people don’t have the patience, will-power, discipline or self-motivation to do this. IT IS NOT EASY! If you choose to go through to phase 2, I charge $3000 for the next 3 months as all material is sent to you over the next 3 months. This material contains everything you need to know to set up a process to import products from China into the US, making the brand bigger, the regulations, the customer service, returns, and profit margins. Of all businesses that complete Phase 2, I personally get involved to take businesses through to phase 3 where I contribute in the innovation of your products and help take your business into the big league.

What’s next:

My course is opening again soon and if you want to be a part of it, please leave your name and email in the form below and we’ll inform you when that happens.

Selecting The Best and Safest Crib For Your Baby – 2015 2016 Latest

The most essential part of the house for a baby is his sleeping haven. This is where the little one curls up into a cozy sleep after the big day’s activities. An infant bed may constitute a crib, a cradle or a bassinet. While a cradle or a bassinet can be great options for the baby’s sleeping area, the reason why a good non toxic baby crib can save you a lot of work is that it can last for many years (due to its bigger size) while a cradle or a bassinet can go out of use sooner as a baby is likely to outgrow them in some months.

Essential Reading – Everything You Need to Know About Non-Toxic Cribs

Cute Twin Babies

Today in 2015 – 2016, the market has many types of cribs with dozens of crib accessories to offer. They differ in their design, price, manufacturing materials and so on, but honestly, they all look good only on the surface! So, if you’re looking to buy a crib for your baby, how do you decide which one to buy? Listed below are a few essential points to keep in mind when selecting the best crib for your baby.

1. Crib Size, Space, Storage and Combos

The size of the crib is important. Many parents buy small cribs that are perfect for baby’s current needs, but what they don’t realise is that babies grow very fast and before they know, they need a new, bigger crib. It is important to check the size of a crib’s sleeping area to see if your baby will be comfortable in it. At the same time, it is also important to check the space available in your house. If you have a small nursery, remember to go for a space-saving or fold-able baby crib. There are cribs that come with a lot of storage space, which is a superb idea for small homes as it saves you buying a separate shelf for baby diapers or other sleeping accessories. You may also want to check some cribs that have a built in changing area, drawers, play panels or even adjustable height to match the height of your bed. Some are one side open so it can form a part of your bed. There has been a lot of innovation in the cribs industry and you must explore the ideas I’ve mentioned.

2. Convertible, Transportable, Folding Cribs with Wheels

Simple cribs with basic functionalities are relatively lower in price in comparison to the more functional cribs like convertible baby cribs. Convertible cribs cab be transformed into a toddler bed, a day bed and/or a full-sized bed for later years. These are very popular and solve the baby bed problem for a long time. In addition to the crib conversion kits, some cribs come with additional features like an attached side table and/or dresser which can be used for changing the baby’s diapers and storing the baby’s stuff (like the ones with changing table mentioned above). Other types of cribs include the transportable cribs which can either have wheels to stand on, or can have the option of folding up into something like carry bags. These are a great option for parents who have to switch between houses or who travel often.

3. Budget for the Crib

Since there are innumerable types of cribs available, the price range is endless! It is crucial to define your budget for the crib before you set out to buy one. Although an increase in price can often get you a crib with added features, sometimes you’ll find that the higher price is mainly due to the design and look of the crib. In such cases, if your crib budget is low, it is wise to go for a simple looking option to bring down the price without compromising on the quality or safety.

4. Manufacturing Material for the Crib

Just as there are various types of cribs, so are there numerous types of crib manufacturing materials available today. Cribs can be made of wood, MDF, plastic or even metals, etc. While many of these can look attractive and strong from the outside, it is important to note that the cribs made of solid wood are the safest of them all. Wooden cribs are sturdy, beautiful and most importantly – non-toxic! Let us discuss more about crib safety in the following section.

Cribs Infographic - Safety and Security

5. Crib Safety – Sturdiness, Strength, Smell and Chemicals

Crib safety is most essential in my opinion. It is the one aspect that affects your baby’s well-being most significantly! In order to ensure that a crib is safe, we must check how strong the crib is. Like I mentioned above, the crib’s manufacturing material is an important part that determines the crib’s over-all strength. Another thing to keep in mind is that the crib should be non-toxic! It must be absolutely safe for the baby and must not contain harmful substances like lead, phthalates and formaldehyde (mostly found in crib glues). Sometimes the crib material is safe (like real wood) but the paints used to coat the surface are toxic. These paints can cause the room to fill the baby’s room with a toxic smell and it can take months for that smell to dissipate. I have read about parents having to sell their newly bought cribs at very low prices because of the annoying, toxic odour. At times despite all the materials being safe, the crib has lose or broken screws or joints. Hence, it is important to check all the materials used in the crib thoroughly before purchasing the crib. Finally, it is always advisable to buy a new crib if your budget allows you because used cribs can be weakened by rough handling over time and may not even meet the latest crib-safety standards.

Mobility Aids and Rollators

When do you require a mobility aid?

There are many reasons why mobility devices like walkers rollators are needed. They’re a combination of age-specific and ailment specific reasons. Here are the top 3:

  • The body-weight bearing ability of a person may decrease due to conditions like arthritis, fracture, surgery etc. in which case support may be required.
  • Respiratory problems, aging or prolonged illness can result in fatigue.
  • Dizziness or neurological problems can lead to poor balance.

It’s difficult, both physically and mentally not being able to walk independently without external help. However, the use of rollators can make you feel independent and self-reliant. Rollators ensure safety of the user by reducing the risk of falling, making it easy to get around and even providing extras like a seat, cup holder, tray and/or basket to carry stuff around.

What Is A Rollator?

A rollator is basically a rolling walker or a walker with wheels. It has wheels and brakes to make movement easy and smooth and to provide control during walking pauses. Most good ones have brakes that lock, so users can lean on the rollator slightly or even sit if the rollator has one built in. Rollators with big wheels do well with slightly uneven surfaces. Many people use rollators both indoors and outdoors. Unlike the traditional walker which needs to be lifted with every step you take, a rollator just moves with you as you only have to push it forward in order to move. Rollators are the perfect mobility aid for those who want to remain active and move quickly.

Difference between Rollator and Walker

Both rollator and walker are for those who have difficulty in mobility. However, there are a few differences between both.

  • The first difference is that the walker has four legs and the rollator has either three or four wheels attached to the legs.
  • In order to move forward the user has to lift and set down the walker with each step, on the other hand the rollator have wheels to move forward and a brake system to control the speed.
  • Walkers are suitable for those people who are mobile enough but are not able to bear weight on one or both legs for any reason such as some sort of surgery. Rollators are suitable for those who have balance and stability issues.

Reasons to Choose Rollators

There are many reasons to choose a rollator for your mobility aid. People, who want to remain active despite of their mobility challenges, should best use a rollator. Those who travel a lot or those who want to spend time outdoors should consider buying a rollator.

  • A rollator is more stable than a walking cane and provides greater support.
  • A rollator is more convenient to use than a walker and provides greater mobility.
  • It provides better support to those who have less endurance and cannot stand for a longer period of time.
  • It is suitable for those who have weak arms or cannot lift weight.

Google Plus: Hours Wasted, Listings/Reviews Removed!

Here’s a Google Plus – Page & Local Listing Nightmare!

After noticing my Google plus page on the local listings, I decided to start sharing the URL with my customers so the page could get some reviews. We got some excellent reviews so I thought why not update a nice profile pic, add some pictures, a description and make sure the marker location is precise.

I did that and BOOM! My account got suspended with a message saying “Your page is disabled and won’t appear on Google.” So I went through the entire guidelines page and without any hint whatsoever, was made to figure out, what out of the 100 things I’ve may’ve done wrong. So I removed the links from my description, removed pics that may’ve contained text etc. and it emerged that I had changed the address to match another local listing of my business that someone else had created.

Google Plus Page & Local Listing removed!

Now because 2 listings with the same address aren’t allowed, I started trying to verify the other listing. Despite that having the correct phone number (a mobile number with a preceeding 0), Google couldn’t make a call to verify that listing and said “call failed” after multiple attempts.

When I woke up this morning, this is what I saw for the listings of the 2 centres of my business:

Google Local Business Page Disabled

Both the listings have been Disabled despite having clearly distinct addresses and being two disconnected centres.

The 5 hours I spent last night deleting a listing, writing emails to people to remove the local account so I could remove duplicate accounts – all gone into the trash can.

We have hidden your page and removed it from Google Maps due to changes in our system.

All customer reviews gone!

Yes, all reviews that my lovely customers had written for the business, the hours they had spent writing those – all GONE!

The message points me to https://support.google.com/business/answer/6003589?p=page_hidden&hl=en&rd=1

check back on this article for updates

I’ve now put a weekly reminder on my phone to check back this page. Next, I’ll quit my job to follow through this. Why not, what better use of my time anyway!

A tip for Google

The Google Plus product that you have is fantastic, the unfair advantage you give it on Google rankings is also awesome! If only you could get some real life businesses to test it and for them to be able to reach actual people in the Google Plus team, you’d realise that its working would improve overnight. I just feel that the products aren’t tested by actual people and when your systems change, you probably don’t account for the “genuine, on the ground” hassle that the business owners go through. We have 2000 reviews/ratings on Facebook and we know those are safe. Google Plus is a “touch me not” where everytime you try updating your profile to make it better, you risk losing all your data and the page. Why would a business owner spend time on G+ then?

I am open to speaking with someone from G+Page & Local Listing department regarding my experience and I’m happy to recommend some ideas that I think will make the whole G+ experience way more valuable than it is now. If someone reads it and cares, please get in touch. 9910222770 India.

Also, what’s with this “remove all other listings with the same address” impossibility? What if they weren’t created by me and have wrong phone numbers or slightly incorrect addresses? For example, someone has created a listing with a slightly mismatched address and a wrong phone number with my Business name, what do I do about that?

Jaao, pehle uska sign lekar aao jisne woh listing banayi thi! :p

Why don’t you remove them based on the one that has more genuine reviews or based on the “more recently verified Local listing”? To think about it, that listing came from an old yellow pages directory in the first place, and a newer verified listing with the same name should be allowed to over-write that. I understand that practically it won’t be that easy.

I love the Google plus page and I want to really work on that, I hope Google Plus guys will soon figure out these glitches and allow business owners like me to use the G+ page and Local listings for the actual benefit of my customers.

Find modern office furniture in Delhi, India. Really good stuff!

One of my good friends has started an office furniture business. A couple of months ago he decided to go online with the entire catalogue etc. I did some research into this market and despite finding quite a few searches on Google India per month, I’m a bit skeptical about people buying this thing online. Secondly – if you do end up getting top rankings for “office furniture”, then its your corporate responsibility to deliver throughout India, else just market it for Delhi related keyphrases? We’ve been brain storming about all that. Here’s an article by him that explains how to choose office furniture. All the best to him! And boy, his stuff is really very good!

Choose the best Office Furniture Design in 3 easy steps

Around the world, there are various websites that offer office furniture but with so much choice, how do you go about choosing the best designs for your office furniture?
Following are some guidelines that’ll help you figure out how to choose the best furniture design for your office:

  • Be specific about what you need to buy – Don’t just waste your time browsing eye catching images. With numerous office furniture websites available, I would personally recommend you to first decide what exactly you want to buy for your office. Lets say you want to buy Storage Racks for your office. Then you must search specifically for Office Storage Racks rather than searching for Office Furniture. The reason being that when you would search for Office Furniture, you would also get results for Office Chairs, Office Bookshelves, Office Almirahs, Office Cabinets, Office Lockers etc. which is not your focus right now. So be specific whenever you search for a keyword. You don’t want to spend your time viewing good pictures of Office Lockers and Cabinets when you don’t want to buy them.
  • Checkout multiple websites for good bargains. While choosing furniture online, you must checkout at least 5 websites and see what all products they have to offer. All the websites must be different in designs but they would offer more or less similar products. Its very important to choose your design and then compare it on different websites for product features and maintenance features. Checking out other websites might also help you to discover some special offers which might not be available on a single website.
  • Don’t hesitate in requesting a quote. Often online visitors don’t request for a price quote. I think this is high time that they should understand that not all products which are sold online have a price tag attached with them. It is perfectly normal and often suggested for an online customer to ask for a price quote and a good bargain on a price that the seller is offering. It just takes less than 30 seconds to fill a small contact/request quote form and ask for a good bargain on the price. Alternately, it doesn’t even take 5 seconds to make a call to the vendor and negotiate on the prices. So if you need a good bargain on a product, do fill that small form and/or negotiate with the vendor.

I am sure all the aforesaid points will help you choose the right furniture for your office.

Don’t hesitate in requesting a quote.

VentureGiant.com’s Rishi Anand and Tim Lancaster made my day!

This is a little true incident that made my day and possibly, will help my business in a big way, going forward.

I have been planning to set up my own online business and have been inundated with ideas over a long time. Nothing seemed to strike the right balance until I decided to go full throttle with this idea I call Z.  Times are bad, and because of recession (especially in the UK), I have been struggling to find work for my company. I thought this was the best time to actually give my business idea Z a good shot.

One fine day, I decided to look for some help for my idea online so went on and Googled for “Entrepreneur support in London”. VentureGiant.com came up. I found a brilliant web site focused on finding investors for entrepreneurs – a unique platform where investors and entrepreneurs meet, entrepreneurs pitch with details of their business or business idea, investment required, return and other details like time required to break even, projections, industry etc and the facility to upload a video explaining the idea.

I immediately signed up and uploaded details of Z – my business idea that I knew will do amazingly well. I uploaded cash projections, investment required and other details that I thought were important to attract angel investors.

A couple of days later, I got my first enquiry from an Investor. But this was where I was stuck. VentureGiant.com demanded I pay 100GBP to view investor details and to be able to contact the investor. At this stage I wrote an email to VentureGiant.com explaining my cash situation. With hardly any money in the account, it was impossible to shell out that 100 quid for a “possible” enquiry.

Mr Tim Lancaster, Business Development Manager from VentureGiant.com replied back with a supportive email. I explained the scenario and proposed to pay if I find a suitable investor. The call to action was forwarded by Tim to Managing Director Mr Rishi Anand. Tim emailed me back saying “Mr Rishi Anand” will pay for you. “Wow! ” I thought, these guys are serious about finding me an investor.

I was quite surprised to be honest. Most of the other websites are hardly useful, and are aimed at making money, but VentureGiant.com is one site that actually believes in and tries hard to connect Entrepreneurs and Investors.

Although that particular enquiry didn’t convert into an investor, there was incredible knowledge gained.

I am very impressed with the team at VentureGiant.com – Mr Rishi Anand, Mr Tim Lancaster and others who are working to make the two ends meet. I wish them good luck with their venture. Thanks again guys, if you ever come to read this..

Dance classes Delhi – Any good dance schools in New Delhi?

On my short trip to New Delhi, I met an old, close friend. She was studying in Essex Univ, in UK and then went back to Delhi looking for a job. Strangely enough, we saw each other driving. She recognised me and contacted me on Facebook. Small world eh?

Anyway, we met and were discussing what kind of businesses can be started in Delhi – businesses that’ll involve providing a service, not a product. She told me about research she had done on things like Aerobics classes, starting a Gym or may be Yoga and Pilates classes. Since in her surveys of her area she didn’t get a very positive response, she was looking for more ideas. I suggested looking into the Spa market as some new Spas opened in Greater Kailash and Vasant Vihar are doing business of upto 1.5 lakh rupees a day (thats about 3000 US Dollars a day). Was a good lunch meeting, she went off with the idea and guess what? She has indeed decided to start a Gym in Gurgaon. Way to go!

So anyway, since I was in Delhi and was actively looking to acquire new skills, I thought maybe yoga or dancing would be interesting to learn. Especially with Slumdog Millionaire doing so well, there’s more Indian music and the need to know Indian dance. I started my little research for dance classes in Delhi, dance schools in Delhi and dancing in Delhi in general. I found a couple of good chains like Shiamak Dawar and Ashley Lobo but none close to where I live. Actually there was one dance class close to where I live, but it for for 16 to 18 year olds – in other words “dance classes” not good for me.

I also wanted to know what kinds of dances are taught in Delhi. On asking some neighbourhood ladies I found hip-hop dance classes, salsa dance classes, western dance classes (duh!), belly dance classes, bollywood dance classes etc among the ones people are interested in. Not too keen to learn hip-hop or salsa, but more inclines toward bhangra or modern Indian dance, I kept searching. That’s when I came across Delhi dance academy. You won’t believe this – they give hopping, locking (with nunchucks, sticks), hip-hop, Indian classical, salsa lessons – you name it. But locking, popping with nunchucks? I was thrilled. I went ahead and met these young guys who’ve participated in a local Indian TV program called “Boogie Woogie” 🙂 Was fun to meet them and I went ahead for some trial classes.

Since my stay in India wasn’t long enough, I couldn’t really complete a lesson, but had great fun learning these cool dance moves. Still can’t dance like Michael Jackson, but I’m sure I have improved.

If  dance classes Delhi is what you’re looking for, then go have a look at their website and enroll yourself for some trial classes in their South Delhi dance classes centre. Happy Dancing !!

Glitz by Louise Bagshawe (my book review)

My review: 7 out of 10 (worth a read)

I’ve kind of got into reading “chicklits” lately. I think that it’s because they provide an escape into a happier, hip world where everything always turns out great in the end and you join the characters in their happy moments and the things you learn as they get through their woes.

This was the first book I had read by Louise Bagshaw, having just finished the two books by Lauren Weisberger that she wrote after The Devil Wears Prada. First Everyone Worth Knowing and Chasing Harry Winston.

Glitz had me interested in the story all the way through – the actual plot that is and how it would end was what kept me reading really. It’s a thick book at 535 pages and I was not that impressed by the way it was written. I found it bitty, the story jumped through the time line in an unsatisfactory manner. One bit that confused me was that the girls went to the Seychelles to see Uncle Clement a couple of weeks after having returned from there after Christmas. I haven’t read back through but it read like they came back and a number of weeks had passed but then Bai Ling came at the beginning of February. On the time between Bai Ling arriving and the end of the book I felt the reader was forced to delve in and out of key moments in a way that an experienced writer would not make them do – the story did not flow through.

The beginning of the book was quite long but when it got to the juicy bits, there could have been more detail. For example – other than the first dinner party there was no description of what Bai-Ling was up to for much of the book until there were a couple of sentences towards the end about how the Chambers girls had been taking it in turns to entertain her. It sounds a little implausible that Bai-Ling spent months of the rest of teh time sitting in her hotel suite when the purpose of her visit to England was to coach her to join society. Then there was the detail of the girls’ careers. I would have loved to read about how they developed in more detail but they seemed to get off to a flying start and become e successful with no problems at all  – may be that is how it is when you are rich.

I loved the rich descriptions in the book. For every scene you knew exactly what the girls were wearing and from which designer: Chanel, Choo, LK Bennett, Dior – it was all there. the dresses, suits and shoes described in beautiful details. here was a lot of suit wearing going on though, which seemed quite old-fashioned to me. Although, the girls did turn out to be past their mid-thirties, which came as a surprise to me.

I loved the lifestyles that were portrayed – the beautiful homes and the way the girls moved around them and used them. You were right there with them looking at the rooms and the clothes. That’s the real reason I read these things = the escapism in these girly novels.

I think I’ll try another one of her books. They all have quite enticing titles. I think may be Career Girls is next.  I don’t tend to read chicklits about married life and the such – I guess I am not at that stage of life. Am on the look out for another writer who offers engrossing novels without the tribulations of juggling babies in it. Any ideas?

HP Compaq releases the cq 50 139wm – Cheap n cool! My reviews

HP Compaq CQ-50 139WM laptop was released today for a ridiculous price of 298 dollars with Walmart (remember Walmart? the No.1 company in the world according to Forbes).

The HP Compaq CQ-50-139WM has some cool features for its price. – 2GB RAM, 2 Gigahertz AMD or Intel Celeron or an AMD Processor and a whopping 5400 RPM 160 GB of hard disk. You can’t ask for more at this price. The credit crunch has done its bit of good for some of us. The graphics card is not that great, so if you’re a gamer, well mate, this one’s not exactly for you as it uses shared memory. The screen is 15.4 inches (standard for a laptop computer) but it uses HP bright tech, so you wouldn’t struggle figuring out what’s written, in daylight.

Another sort of drawback with the HP Compaq CQ-50 139WM is Vista Home – Doesn’t give you features as good as Vista Business or Vista ultimate, but hey! Look at the price! What’s more, UNlike every other laptop out there in this price range, this has a DVD writer, so now you can store your data on DVDs if you find the 160 gigs of hard drive too little <pun intended>. It has wireless lan, a built in microphone for chatters and 3 USB ports. Battery – Here we come to something that most people need. It’s a 6 cell Lithium battery which should comfortably give you a 2-3 hours backup.

All in all, a great machine for its price. With the Compaq HP branding, you couldn’t have asked for more this Christmas. But hey, if you’re looking to buy for yourself, might as well wait for the Boxing day, when prices will be slashed further. I think the HP Compaq CQ series – 50 139WM is good for you if you use the Internet, word processors, basic graphics, email, or other non-graphics card intensive programs. If you want to play games, I’m afraid you’ll have to shell out more than the $298.00. The speed of this laptop computer won’t be great because it uses an AMD or Intel Celeron processor (bad when compared to Centrino and others), but believe me, if you’re a basic user and have been thinking of buying, rush to Walmart this Saturday for this only all Saturday deal. This has good possibility of entering the “sold out” list in the first few hours.

My review: 8 out of 10

Did you find my review useful? Please comment. Thanks!! 🙂
